Floyd Marshall Jr. began his career acting in independent films, television commercials, and radio ads. He transitioned from being in front of the camera to a behind-the-scenes role as an executive producer of his own stage plays and independent films.
He also went on to write screenplays for various independent filmmakers and book authors. He decided to take his talents into the area of film festivals and started the IFAP Awards, a film festival geared towards the excellence of independent filmmakers internationally. He also created the Film collective, a short film festival for independent filmmakers.
He also has a nonprofit, the Independent Film Association of Philadelphia where he teaches new filmmakers the business of show business. Floyd is also a mentor with Start With 8, an affiliate of Women of Color Unite, an organization geared toward diversity and inclusion for women of color. Floyd is also co-founder of the Reel Philm Network, where he and his partners collaborate and connect filmmakers with local businesses.
